Waffles. Plain and simple with syrup and butter are an incredible treat, but why not add ham and cheese? We've been making these waffles as birthday breakfasts, special brunches, and, last night, we had them for dinner. The cheese gets crispy, good. The ham adds the salty, smokey flavor that's so perfect with syrup. Here's the recipe from Bon Appetit. I do recommend one small change. We *only* use 1 1/2 sticks of butter instead of two. Other than that, we make them exactly as written. 

I'm sharing this now because I can't think of a better Valentine's Day breakfast. Say "I love you." with a waffle and coffee if you have a keeper.
