Lumps of Coal Cookies

These are the cookies you make if you just can't get enough chocolate.  They are double chocolate chip cookies made with dark cocoa powder.  They look like black lumps of coal.  So, they are perfect for your naughtiest, chocolate loving friends and family.

I have been making this recipe for Chewy Double Chocolate Cookies for major chocolate needs, but adding the dark chocolate powder and pecans took them to a whole new place.

Here's the recipe as I make it now...

1 cup salted butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsps vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cups unsweetened dark cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chunks
1/2 cup pecans

Preheat oven to 350.

Cream the butter together with both sugars. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mix well.

In another bowl, mix together flour, cocoa, and baking soda.

Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Mix just to combine. Stir in chocolate and pecans.

Scoop on to a lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops look slightly dry.

Serve to those who deserve or desire lumps of coal.
