Bûche de Nöel

I have had my sights set on a Bûche de Nöel for a few years now, seriously. Two years ago I stumbled on a recipe that caught my eye. Last year I got the pan I needed to bake it as a Christmas present. Since then, I've been waiting for Christmas to come back around. Well, it's here, and here's my long anticipated Yule Log...

It's everything that I had hoped it would be. The cake is tender. It did crack a bit, but nothing that was beyond repair. The cake recipe is from Bon Appetit. The whipped cream and ganache are from Real Simple magazine. True to the name they were "real simple" and very delicious. The cranberries that I made for garnish are a recipe by Carla Hall.

I was so excited to use my new mixing bowls! I won them from Blinq. I'm always entering in giveaways and I finally won one! The bowls and a Silpat came with a tee shirt and holiday card. I will definitely enjoy my prize. Thank you, Blinq!

I've been in a baby weight loss mode for the last few weeks. It isn't exactly the right mindset for feeling the holiday spirit. I decided I'd better indulge for a few days before it is all over and I'm sad. This giant Swiss Cake Roll really did the trick. Now, I'm humming carols and looking forward to tomorrow.
