3 Healthy Obsessions

Being pregnant is such a physical experience.  I am always focused on being healthy, but pregnancy has taken my interest to a whole new level.

Here are three of my current healthy obsessions...

1) Lose It! is the most used app on my phone.  I have been using it on and off for years now.  Initially it helped me to lose 25-30 lbs, and now I mainly use it when I need to get myself back on track.  Obviously, being pregnant, the goal is not to lose weight, but it has been useful for me to track my protein intake (something that I have to be aware of, since I don't love meat).

2) Self Nutritional Data is an amazing website!  There are so many places where you can look up calories for specific foods, but this site has way more.  It does include calories, but it also includes the glycemic load, inflammation factor, vitamins, minerals, and graphs the food in a variety of ways.  Whatever you are measuring or monitoring this site will likely be helpful.  Oh, it also has a "compare" feature if you want to see a side by side comparison of two foods.

3) Dates! (the dried fruit, not the activity)  First, you must know that they are very caloric, so consume them in small quantities. I've been eating them because they are high in iron and fiber, two important things when pregnant.  They also contain B-complex vitamins and vitamin C.  I think they are slightly less granny than prunes, but most importantly, they are tasty!
