D.C. a Top 10 Winter Town!

I am off today and that means I have time to think.  As I watch the snow falling outside of my window I can't help but remember last winter's wild ride.

My move to D.C. earlier this year happened to coincide with the snow storm that set records.  It will go down in history as Snowpocalypse.  My husband, dog, and I made it to D.C. before the snow hit, but our movers were trapped with our things on the other side of the storm.  So for me, I will always think of it as the time I lived on an air mattress, drinking Starbucks VIA out of a dirty paper cup for days.  That being said, I am glad that I was here because in an odd way I feel like I bonded with the city during that time.  When people share their stories saying, "Remember when..."  I can say, "Oh, yes.  I remember."

The Washingtonians may have cleaned out the local groceries stores in a wild panic, but they also knew how to have fun.  Snowball fights broke out all across the city, most notably the snowball fight in Dupont Circle.  I also saw groups of people sledding in Rock Creek Park.  Maybe this has something to do with why Washington, D.C. was recently named #10 on the National Geographic's Top 10 Winter Towns list!

TI hope you have a happy snow day!
